QSB uses a proprietary co-solvent-based approach to deliver high-quality biodiesel in a single-step reaction. The technology allows use of oil and grease feedstocks of varying quality levels, yet requires less energy and smaller inventories, meaning lower plant capital and operating costs.

Using its pilot plant, QSB has shown its Co-Sol-Plus technology can deliver

• A 20-50% reduction in overall processing time, based on the principle that complete trans-esterification (i.e. conversion ≥ 98.5%) is achieved in a single reaction step
• A 20-40% reduction in energy consumption
• A 10-20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions
